Its a classic game indeed. good fun...but dont play it with close frieds...to win this game you need to "stab in the back". As the combats are quite even and theres no dice rolling any bad movement costs you the game....even in the 1st turn.
Same style as Machiavelli
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/286

Not my style of game to be honest.

Ah, this is great game. I used to play this with my mates from school. They never learned NOT to trust me, I always stabbed their backs and collected the victory Laughing

Its not the same on the internet, but I'm interested. My time is very limited though, so I need to know when this is going to happen?

I really enjoyed the video (and the two other parts), especially the hats (I like hats).

This is exactly the kind of friends I would like to have; but nowadays I can't even get 4 people together for a game of Risk.

I am interested in starting a game; but I don't have the time right now, maybe in two weeks.

Maybe we could start a slow Play-by-Email game.

Exactly what I was thinking. 6+ hours on TS playing this, good luck finding people with that amount of time, at one time. I always wanted to play this game. I was thinking we should play this here. Someone, most likely me, could post an image of the boardgame's map and be the moderator. Players would have three days to PM each other with deals and on the Fourth day players will have to submit their actual plans by PM to me. I could update the map after that and give a brief narrative of what happened.

I'll look into this tonight. If anyone can find or has a nice image of the board and/or the rules could you post it here?

Excellent Bhodili, I think we can get everything we need from www.diplom.org.

This is a nice map:

http://www.diplom.org/Online/maps/map_c.gif

There are more to choose from on the site.

EDIT:

The site doesn't have the rules (a copyright thing). I'm currently trying to obtain a copy of the rule book by other means.

Ask and you shall receive. Nice. I was hoping we wouldn't have to do something like this. Razz

Now for the game pieces. Of course I'll edit the colors to each country.

Armies

Fleets

Then we need players to play. Speak up now to get first choice. Name the country you want to lead and I'll add you. Once we have everybody we can start. Wink

Austria -

United Kingdom - Deek

France - GyOm

Germany -

Italy - Mikey

Russia - turbomursu

Turkey -

Here's the board we will use for with some example pieces. It'll be real interesting to see it when I finish the colors for all the game pieces then setup the initial placement.

Yeah! This is going to be fun.

 Very nice work Bhodili.

About country selection, it says on the first page of the rule book that: "At the start of the game, the players randomly decide which Great Power each will represent. This is the only element of chance in the game".

So according to the rules we cannot choose our own country. It has to be randomly decided.
We could of course choose to ignore that rule.
